In this course we will define art and through a broad and sweeping view of the visual arts offer basic tools and principles derived from art that can be used for a more expanded consciousness and thus more inspired living. Come and see with eyes of the artist within! For example, one principle of art is that asserts a certain power, the force of the vertical and this can be viewed formally and as a concept of self-affirmation and the enduring power of form as an expression of ideas. We see this manifested in different styles of art from premodern such as the Egyptian to modern abstract art and now in post modern digitisation, where the vertcal line is a bolt of electricity that surges through the veins of the earth and the human body itself. Art is thus the basis both for aestheric attraction as a principle that inheres in scientific and mathematical knowledge where a precise formulation of the beauty of nature can be found. The power of art lies in facing demons; in the hope for something better, of dreams and prophesy and the divine, of gods and the history of nations and individuals, of the cosmos itself or simple a single petal.
